The empty paper summons me to fill it. Like a journal, it offers the opportunity to explore internal callings. Here is my voice. Each drawing, each painting is a call to hope and the future and yet still reflects the desire of the present. Patterns are ripples of memory and thought. Marks made are like a sewing stitch, the meditation found in repetition. They are like breath, in and out. Containers are bodies that hold a beating heart. They are different shapes and sizes. Some are smooth, as if thrown on a wheel; others are built and pinched by fingers. The bottles may hold potions, unguents, elixirs, perfumed oils or they may hold flowers, some imaginable, some real. Most works are anchored by the steadiness of the horizon. I always seem to be seeking balance, but find myself abandoned to color and pattern. And each work always shows me where I am.
